Eleanor V. (Rigby) Holbrook

Eleanor Holbrook (nee Rigby), passed away on Monday, September 17, 2018. Predeceased by her husband Douglas N. Holbrook of 51 years in 2012, she was the loving mother of Christine Mitchell (Scott), Colleen Holbrook, and Douglas J. Holbrook (Sandra) and grandmother to 7 grandchildren. Born and raised in Philadelphia, she was a proud graduate of the Academy of Notre Dame de Namur on Rittenhouse Square class of 1957 before moving to Coatesville to attend the Coatesville School of Nursing, graduating in 1960. Eleanor maintained her nursing license for over 50 years and over the years used her skills to assist others in their time of need.
She was known as the original Eleanor Rigby (by the way McCartney, still waiting for the royalty checks!). Eleanor enjoyed worldwide travel adventures, afternoon tea, crafting and sharing meals with friends. She was an accomplished seamstress and was known for making matching Easter outfits for the whole family "back in the day". She loved to entertain and opened her home to many over the years whether for just a meal or a longer stay. She was always doing for and thinking of others in everything she did.
Eleanor fought a valiant battle over these last 4 years. Shortly after being diagnosed, she set an ambitious goal for herself which would sustain her though the most difficult of times. Her goal was to be there to see her twin grandsons board the bus for their first day of kindergarten. Due to her indomitable determination and the gracious help of family, friends, doctors, nurses and her special nurse, Louann; she was able to meet that goal and we, the family, are truly grateful.
All are welcome to her funeral mass to be held at Our Lady of the Rosary Church where she was a faithful member for close to 50 years. Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, September 21st, at the Harris-Mountain Funeral & Cremation Service, 1030 E. Lincoln Highway, Coatesville. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 22nd, at Our Lady of the Rosary Church at 80 S. 17th Avenue, Coatesville.
Interment will be private.
