Alice D'Amico Obituary

Alice Marie D’Amico, 83, of Coatesville, born in Philadelphia, raised in Wilmington, formerly of West Chester, San Diego, Portland and Vancouver, WA, on November 4. She is survived by brother Charles, Jr.; children William Jr., Margaret, John, Michael, Mark and Leigh Ann; grandchildren Katie, Kristen, Toby, Corey, Anna, Jeremiah, Sarah, Ashleigh, Nicholas, Gabriella, Christopher, Garret, Ian, Duncan, Jacob, Kyleigh, Kendra, and Kassidy; great grandchildren Issac, Bryce, Aubrey, Cooper, Izzy, Callie, Nora, and Luca.

In the early years, it was all about community, as Mom led Girls Scout troops, Fern Hill PTA efforts, and the Oak Hill neighborhood association, for example, while juggling 6 children! And she held so many jobs during her life; it was hard for her to remember them all. It began when she was young, as she delivered newspapers in her neighborhood, then telephone operator, daycare-food provider, secretary, to mention a few, and finally, special education aide for 15 years. But the role she most treasured was mother. Rarely did she miss a sports competition or extracurricular activity. And we all probably still have recordings on our phones of mom singing happy birthday to us, down to the youngest great grandchild. She considered herself blessed, eagerly announcing to those whom she met that she had 18 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, anticipating the usual reply: You don’t look like you're old enough to have that many!

Lover of jigsaw puzzles, TV news, Soaps, Dr. Phil, Big Brother, her red Ford 500, Harry Chapin, Josh Groban, NASCAR, golf, Eagles, coffee with 3 Sweet and Lows, diet Cola (off-brand of late, no caffeine), White Russians (doctored with creamer), Werther's, Lay’s Stackers, (best acquired  from Dollar Tree). And no phone calls before 11 a.m., at the very earliest. Charismatic, both in a spiritual sense, as well as in personality. Burn brightly mama.
