Charles Alfred “Fred” Weller, 72, of Coatesville, died peacefully April 22, 2021, with loved ones by his side. He was the husband of recently departed Patty Weller, with whom he shared 51 years of marriage. Born and raised in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Charles and Olga Weller. Fred attended Coatesville High School where he served as the beloved Chief Red Raider. After graduation in 1967, he attended Dayton University and Temple University, finishing with a degree in Engineering. After college, Fred proudly served his country as a member of the Army Reserves for six years.
His first job was with Philadelphia Gear Company in King of Prussia. He then began his long professional career at Lukens Steel in 1972 in the Engineering Department, eventually moving to Plant Maintenance and devoting nearly 30 years. Later in life, he worked as a Project Manager for Vietri Electric from 2002 to 2016.
Fred was an active member of the LGM and former member of the Coatesville City Council. He enjoyed fishing and would look forward to his annual trips to Rock Hall, MD with his longtime friends. Fred was an avid Eagles and Phillies fan and could often be heard giving “coaching” advice from his recliner.
He loved watching his grandchildren play sports; always giving them his famous PopPop words of encouragement.
But neither the Eagles, nor Phillies or Red Raiders could come a close second to his first love, his beloved wife Patty. What Fred loved most was their life of 51 years together enjoying meals, travel and watching their family grow.
Surviving him is a son, Michael Weller, husband of Julie and three grandchildren, Madeline, Darby, and John. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patty Weller and a sister, Katherine Weller.
