Joyce M. (Parker) Yetter

Joyce M. (Parker) Yetter, formerly of Coatesville, passed away peacefully in Lititz, Pennsylvania, on September 23, 2022, just two days shy of her 89th birthday.

Born in Modena, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Oliver J. and Elva Speakman Parker.

Joyce graduated from Coatesville High School in 1951 and worked for several years as a secretary at Lukens Steel Company before becoming a mother and full-time homemaker.

She was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church of Coatesville where she was active for many years as a Sunday School teacher.

Joyce loved gardening, watching old movies, reading, and drinking coffee. She was a devoted mother and adoring grandmother, and she had a kind heart for all living creatures, from stranded earthworms and wounded birds, to her pet cats, rabbits, and rooster. She was generous and compassionate, and spent many years tirelessly caring for family members and others who were ill or in need of help.

She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Yetter-Vassot of Millersville, Pennsylvania, and twin granddaughters Olivia Vassot, also of Millersville, and Chloe Vassot, of Baltimore. She was preceded in death by Ronald F. Yetter, her beloved husband of 61 years.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, October 13, 2022 at Hephzibah Cemetery, 2237 Strasburg Road,  Coatesville.
