Mary Jane Mentzer Obituary

Mary Jane Mentzer, wife of the late Donald L. Mentzer, passed away November 18, 2021 surrounded by her family and care giver, Lydia.  Born October 20, 1928 to the late Alfred and Isabella Johnson, she was the last of seven children.

She was a homemaker and was the best mom to her four children and mom-mom to all her grandchildren.  She lived at the Coatesville Towers for the past 23 years making many friends and enjoyed playing bingo.  She had volunteered at the Coatesville Senior Center and had worked at the Caln Inn as a cook.

She is survived by daughter, Sally Sweigart and husband Don; son-in-law, Richard Porter and wife, Brenda; Grandchildren, Judy Lyn Brown and husband Jim, Thomas Sweigart and wife, Kristina, Brandon Porter, Whitney Schrack, Nicole Robinson and husband Mike and Ron Mentzger, Jr.; Great Grandchildren, Jazlyn Bryant, Cameron Bryant, Khadijah Merrick, Mickayla, Mason and Damon Sweigart, Leah and Natali Robinson, Gavin Schrack, Sam and Felix Brown, Iyana, Stacia and Roy Mentzer; Great Great Granchildren, Jada Gilliam, Assad and Ammad Carter, Jeremiah and Santana Merrick, Saniya, Zahfir, Cameron, Camdenn, Autumn, Kavion and Kamari Bryant; Step-Grandchildren, Laura, Tia and James Brown, Jr.  She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Ruth Johnson and many nieces and nephews.  Her niece, Carol and husband, Micky were very special to her.

Besides her husband and parents, she was predeased by sons, Brian Mentzer and Ronald Mentzer; daughter, Judy Porter; and siblings, George, Gary, Donald and William Johnson, Edna Mae Ham and Gloria Seese; and a grandson, Jeremy Sweigart.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at the Harris Mountain Funeral & Cremation Service, 1030 E. Lincoln Highway, Coatesville. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. 

Please note that masks and social distancing rules will be followed.

Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Coatesville.
