Born in Katerini, Greece she was the daughter of the late Apostolis and Evanthia Mitintzis. She was the wife of the late Ioannis Sitsis, who preceded her in death in 1995. Sofia was a faithful member of St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church.
Surviving her are two sons, Kostas Sitsis and his wife, Bonnie and Philip Sitsis and his wife, Catherine; six grandchildren, Nicole, Kassandra, Danielle, Yanni, Yanni and Sofia; and six great grandchildren, Wyatt, McKenna, Kinsley, Wesley, Ariadne and Alexandria. She was preceded in death by a sister, Vasiliki, and three brothers, Aristidis, Nikos and Tasos.
Sofia was a beacon of unconditional love that would do anything for anyone that asked, more importantly, for those that didn't. She was raised in Greece under the hardship of Nazi occupation and married the love of her life at a young age. As a poor family in Greece, when she was given an opportunity to migrate to America, she convinced her husband to uproot themselves from other family and friends, so their kids can have an opportunity for a better life. She was a giving, kind person that everyone loved. She was an avid chef of traditional Greek food, and all other foods and baking. So much so, that her granddaughter Danielle was inspired to follow her footsteps and create a career in the Culinary and Hospitality industries. A strong, adventurous woman with her sole purpose in life to serve her family and others. She loved to hug and be hugged. She loved hellos but hated goodbyes The world is a little less brighter with her passing.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at the Harris Mountain Funeral & Cremation Service, 1030 E. Lincoln Highway, Coatesville, PA. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Coatesville.
