Susan Andorn Obituary

Susan North Andorn, 87, formerly of Wrightsville, PA and more recently of Collegeville, PA, passed away with family members at her bedside on May 6, 2023 at Einstein Medical Center Montgomery, in East Norriton. PA.

Susan, the oldest of three children of George A. and Doris D. North, was born March 25, 1936.  She was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania where she received a BS degree in Microbiology.   She took an active role in managing her own health, always searching for the root cause of illness and sharing with others her strong views on how to cure diseases by natural means.  She was also an accomplished knitter and took great pride for many years in running her unique yarn shop, Oh Susanna, located in Lancaster, PA.  She never turned away anyone in need of assistance, whether they were a paying customer or not, and frequently spent endless hours repairing an error or completing a project for others.  No problem was too big, nor too small, for her to fix, and she enjoyed offering a cup of coffee to others as she completed the task at hand.  She was justly proud of the research she undertook to find the best yarns available, many of them imported from abroad, as well as the intricate patterns worthy of the material and the time required to make them.   She particularly loved helping her male customers find joy and relaxation in knitting.

Susan leaves three beloved sons and their families, Jon David Andorn and his wife Pamela, of Hamilton, Ohio and grandchildren Chelsea, Sarah, Jack, Mary, and Patrick; Robert Todd Andorn and his wife Donna, of Collegeville, PA and grandchildren Faith, Tyler, and Ethan; and Timothy William Andorn and his wife Jesseca of Savannah, Georgia and grandson Matthew; as well as a devoted sister, Betsy N. Robinson and her partner Anita M. Emery of Whispering Pines, NC.  Her brother, William David North, predeceased her in 2021.  Susan loved his family as well, including two daughters, Nancy Delogu and husband Joseph of Arlington, VA and grandnephews Adam, Julian, and Leo; and Cheryl Desvernine and husband Keith Sawyer of Mechanicsville, VA and grandniece Julia and grandnephew William; as well as sister in-laws Karen Perkins and her family and Monique North.  The special relationship Susan had with her brother-in-law Roger Robinson was one of the highlights of her life.

The family is eternally grateful to the dedicated caregivers, staff, nurses, and doctors who have played a significant role in Susan’s recent past.

Interment at West St. Johnsville Cemetery in St. Johnsville, NY will be held at a later time.
