Thomas T. Simmers, Sr.

Thomas T. Simmers, Sr., 83, of Coatesville died peacefully Monday, June 6, 2022.

Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Clarence and Virginia Gay Simmers and the husband of  Margaret (Peggy) Simmers with whom they celebrated their 64th anniversary in May.

Tom is survived by his three sons: Tom Jr. husband of Tracy of Downingtown, Greg Sr. husband of Charleen of Coatesville, Gary husband of Isabel of Honey Brook and his daughter Laura Reiter of Mineral, VA along with 5 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Clarence (Sonny), Donald (Donny), Albert (Bert), Eugene (Gene) and his sister Katherine “Toots” Murphy.  He has one surviving brother Edgar (Skip).

He attended Coatesville High School. After leaving school, he joined the U.S. Navy and served from June 1956 – March 1960 then transferred to U.S. Naval Reserve until June 1962.  He earned the Good Conduct Medal.

Tom retired from Hatt’s Industrial Supply after 20+ years.  He was also employed by PennDot and A. Duie Pyle.

He was a member of the Coatesville Moose, Downingtown VFW, West End Fire Company as well as many other social clubs.  He was a member of the Square Shooters Hunting Club in Slate Run, PA and enjoyed hunting, fishing and vacationing with his family and friends.  He was also an avid racecar fan.

Tom’s service will begin at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 13, 2022 at Harris-Mountain Funeral Home, 1030 E. Lincoln Hwy., Coatesville, PA.  Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM.  Military Honors will be held at the funeral home.
