Wanda (Zyglinski) Zmuda

Wanda Zmuda, 95, of Coatesville died Friday, December 18, 2020 at the Phoenix Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Phoenixville, PA.

She was the wife of Franciszek “Frank” Zmuda with whom she shared 48 years of marriage at the time of death in 1998.

Born on January 12, 1925 in Warsaw, Poland she was the daughter of Frank and Antonette Zyglinska.

After the start of the Second World War and subsequent occupation of Poland by the German army, Wanda took an active part in the fight for Polish liberation. During the Warsaw uprising, she was captured and placed in a women's Prisoner of War camp in Germany in 1944.  When the camp was liberated in 1945, Wanda traveled first to Italy, then to Scotland, and settled in London, England where she met Frank. They married on February 18, 1950. Several years later, they emigrated to the United States and became American citizens in 1962.

She was employed with Pepperidge Farm until her retirement and was a member of the former St. Stanislaus Kostka Church.  She enjoyed taking long walks and together with her daughter could often be seen walking their little white dog through the streets of Coatesville.

Surviving her are her children; Christiana, Jan, and Adam and two grandchildren, Thomas and Nicole.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Monday, December 28, 2020 at St. Joseph’s Church, 404 Charles St., Coatesville.

Relatives and friends may visit from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Monday at the Harris Mountain Funeral & Cremation Service, 1030 E. Lincoln Hwy., Coatesville.

Please note masks and social distancing rules will be followed at the funeral home and church.

Interment will be private at Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery, Doylestown.
